Title: Old School Don Campbell center pin?
Post by: ChumChaser on March 26, 2012, 04:04:22 PM
Hey everyone, I have a line on a old school Don Campbell center pin and was wondering if anyone has any experience with them.  Curious if anyone can tell me more about them, things they like and dislike about them. I took a look on line but can't find much info on them, I realize they are made in hope but that is all I can find.  Because it is older I was also wondering if I could still get replacement bearings for it, things like that. This will be my first center pin and I just want to make sure I get something I will be happy with.

Thanks.

Don makes a great working man's reel. Probably a third the cost of Islanders, Milners and the likes and equally as good. I just bought one off him three weeks ago so yes you would still be able to get replacements. Great guy, not turning much of a profit on these reels. Must be just passion. Enjoy.

Here's a pic of mine. I've had it 2 years now and no issues.

That is actually the reel I am thinking about, he said it is one of the first ones Don made.  I am going to meet up with him tonight to purchase if all goes well. Here are a couple pics I was sent of it.
