Title: Chilliwack River, March 8th 2012
Post by: Big Steel on March 08, 2012, 06:18:14 PM
Wasn't on the river long, as I worked 11 hrs today. But I had my gear with me, and still had a bit of energy left so I wandered out to my fav afternoon spot.  There was a good sized wild buck being landed in a lower run as I made my way up to my starting point.  Put on a roe sack and started working my way thru the run... not to long after my float stops and goes under... but came up empty with a crush sac of roe.  Threw on a new sack and continued working... 10 mins later a bit further down the run, float slams down again... This time good solid headshakes and the fight was on.  It was a rather good fight as well... with a couple big runs thrown in for good measure and after about 10 mins this nice hatch buck comes to hand all tired out and ready to be dinner.... So that was my afternoon.   :)

River looked awesome BTW... and it was the first time this year I worked up a bit of a sweat... pretty nice warm out there... Hoping the forecast doesn't hold for the next  days... or it could get messy and I'll work a lot of OT... But I'd rather be fishing. ;D

Great job Dave, wish I was out there with you. You sure are having a great steelhead season.

Thanks Geff.  I wasn't expecting this this winter.  One more landed and it's my best season ever... So if the river holds.. I have something to gun for!!  ;D

DMV, I only check out this website every now and then during the winter months (because I'm too busy running a couple of businesses), but every time I come back on here you've posted another stellar Steelhead report.  Well done man!  I'd go so far as to say you could be the steelhead master on FWR.  Nice fish dude!

Amen, glad I'm not the only one.
Taken so much flack from buddies and people I don't know that I don't even post pics any more unless it's a really good one.
Kinda just keep to myself now... and give reports and pics to a few buddies, and of course the people on my facebook see them too I guess  ;D

That being said, please don't stop posting DMW. I'm actually glad you catch so many fish.
I love reading your reports, especially when I haven't been out since the 3rd week of Feb.
By the way think I have the same problem as you... I haven't wanted to fish since then really, and that combined with gas prices has made me even more hesitant to go.
You however are kind of making me want to get back out and give it a go with all these pics...

Cheers,
Dan

Never take it too serious it is only a hobby and not a job to go fishing unless you are guide.
