The 4 th fish did the old head shake and got off :'( all 4 fish were chrome and all very acrobatic several jumps going for a drift with a guide on friday wonder if I will have better sucess with him or is being a bank guy just as productive time will tell. A couple of these were hogs heart breaker to loose em after fighting them for five minutes to have the leader snap sucks but lots of fun while it lasted. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

What kind of fluorocarbon are you using?

Oh man, 4 fish in the same day? That's gotta sting. It sounds like you found a pretty sweet spot for steelies, you just need to get that leader to hold. I'm running 12lb Seaguar and its been good to me so far. I'm curious to know if your using it too and if I need to be worried now :-\

The float went down and you got to fight them, that's something. I can see why you're still smiling.
The one and only steelhead I caught at the Vedder, my leader broke as well, but I was in midst of landing the fish and the line may have come into contact with some rocks. It didn't just snap off mid-fight. I was using 12 lb Sea-gur fluoro and I'd guess the fish was about 12-14 lbs.
I'm just curious when your line broke. If it's not my line, I worry about my knots. Of course I have to hook into some first..
I was told by my guide at the time that fluoro has a tendency to burn from friction and weaken, so to make sure to lubricate well and tie knots carefully.

Berkley Vanish second season using it, and never had a problem last year, landed 30 steelies last season. The knots are not an issue use palomar knot on hook end and trilene knot on the swivel. Letting fish run not to much pressure on them leader braking between swivel and lure/bait these fish are strong and fresh chromers thats what keeps you fishing trying to land these fine looking fishis half the fun well back to the honey hole will post back later today.

They call it "Vanish" for a reason ;D
Try some Seaguar and you won't go back.
