Ah I remember that!
Anyone watched Canadian Sportsfishing lately?
There was a show where Italo was fishing for Steelhead and Chinook in the Niagra River. He used spinners with Barbed treble hooks on them. Now it was perfectly legal to use barbed trebles at the time but he was doing a show where he released everything he caught. Catch and Release using barbed trebles? WTF? His fish handling skills weren't that great either, dragging fish onto the rocks etc..

honestly i cant stand watching that show :P

I can tell you that I witnessed two fishing celebrities fishing on McKay Lake north of yellowknife in the early nineties. Several boats were accompanying them and their enterage, the guides would hook into a fish, motor over and hand it off to one of the celebrities to play in front of the camera.
We were in hysterics as they struggled to keep the remnants of the ice road out of shot, play the fish after decided which one looked better for the shot. All this while we cast hooked and played ours from the lake side on flies.

--I in no way condone the behavior but I can see the pressure and costs of producing a show in a short period of time.
--I'm sure most would say so what cost of doing business.... but would it have been better to actually show foul hooked whitefish being released.
--It is an infomercial show... maybe a caveat at the beginning of the show that some portions have been edited for the purpose of demonstration.
--I know when shows are potentially being produced in the area that people are asked to pre-fish the area to help ensure a successful show. Some hosts publicly admit this... even give credit to those who offered suggestions on how and what to use when fishing the area... others prefer to be the hero.
--As evidenced by fishporn on this forum... seems like most or at least many photos... bring out the armchair Co's.
--Pleading guilty does not necessarily mean you would be found guilty... in the case of Henry I recall as Bass was closed to fishing it was not legal to target Bass... a regular Joe may not have been charged in this circumstance... however the judge I believe accepted the argument that as Henry was a "professional angler" he should have known that the area of the lake he was fishing (for other species open to fishing) that there was a high likelyhood that he would hook a Bass during the closed season.

honestly i cant stand watching that show :P
I am no fan of these fishing shows and don't subscribe to WFN.

Italo is a hurting beak. You gotta love the way he holds fish out of the water for a minute while chatting about whatever. Then pretends the fish has tons of energy as he is releasing it yet its usually floating on its side. He is a poor example of a fisherman
Then he turns to the camera and says the fish was released unharmed.

Must be a Leaf fan. Savages
Go Nucks Go LEAFS SUCK

both those guys are hurtin' beaks if you ask me.
all they ever do is used barbed hooks too, have some decency, they're often not intending to keep their catch, yet they still rock the "Barb"...
Worse is like someone else said, Italo especially catches a fish holds for a long time all the while explaining his life story. How about show the fish for the camera for a second, let it go, then explain what you're doing...not explain while holding the fish...
these guys need to look at how a real professional fishes, handles and respects the fish, Pendlington would work these guys all day any style of fishing and is many, MANY classes above these guys....just my 2 cents.

I hate watching italo's show cant stand him...haha what an idiot!
-
I recall something about these guys fishing for steelhead in BC (Thompson River maybe) and they got fined for something ??? ( improper handling I think )
-
well deserved fine

Henry is down here in Florida making shows and no one knows about the fines.
Larry Dahlberg was fined for fish molestation on a steelhead back in the 90s. http://about-flyfishing.com/library/weekly/aa052599.htm
Can you provide more infomation on your recollection weefish? I'm all for draggin someone over the coals if they really did something, but only if it's the guilty person.

I used to scream at the tv; PUT IT BACK!!! Italo is a bozo. I wasn‘t quite so sour on Hank but wouldn‘t go out of my way to fish with him either. During the courses of the show they had together they each managed to fall out of the boat while playing fish.
