Title: would like to contact Chris Gadsden
Post by: Verdi on February 04, 2012, 09:41:21 AM
It was nice to meet you, on Friday morning, I lost a nice hatchery fish on the beach, you had a video camera and taped it.
I know video is too big to send, my email only takes 10 mb, but if i could get just the landing of the fish that would be great.
If not it was nice meeting you anyway and it was a nice day to be out on the water.
At least i have a nice story of the one that got away.
thanks.

Just sent you an email. Nice fish, too bad about the landing at the end. I did the exact same thing to Nina's chinook in 2003. ;D

wow that was huge! too bad about the landing, but that's typical when the fish feels the rocks under it's belly.

believe me, it's happened to everyone at one point in their life...you can do everything right and still have the fish get away. i've had hatchery steelhead on shore already and have it squirm loose while unhooking it....on the flip side, i've had many wild go ballistic in knee deep water and have them stay on the line while i take a quick pic and struggle to get the hook off...that's just fishing.

lol....first thing i thought was he should have blocked the fish's escape route...not hard to do in practically 3 inches of water. ;D

We call it fishing and not catching. I just laugh to myself when i lose one that should of been landed.I just say the fish won that battle! It happens!Keep fishing and enjoy the sport for what it is!

the easiest way to find him is put out some beer cans and wait in the bush, kinda like hunting....or just look for the guy chasing a drennan down the river......lol

I learned my lessons when landing a fish many years ago.

When I am about to land a fish, I tell anyone around me not to come too close. They spook really easy and they end up tangling around someone and break off!!!!!!

better yet just drop a bunch of floats in the water and wait for a guy to jump out of nowhere and grab em!  :P hahah I bet he has so many of my floats, I gotta start putting my name on them

if you boot it and still gets away, all you've done is hurt the fish needlessly.

Don't feel bad guys I lost 3 today, but the only one I got in was a 10 to 12 pound wild buck which I was able to tube for the brood stock program, had some good tussle with the fish that got off. This was all in 90 minutes before I went to Vancouver to take in the trial re the fish farm issue.

One thing is never rush getting fish in as many are lost right at the beach. You will lose more trying to beach them before they are ready. Please don't ask me what happened today, one chap said it was my hooks ;D but I had landed 4 in a row with them before I lost the 3 today.

Losing fish is just part of fishing, seeing the float go down and the feel you have connected with a fish is the most thrilling part, is it not. :-\

that's funny! guess marco and chris shouldve bent it like beckham lol.  almost lost a coho on the beach this year, but pounced on it like a football.
