Title: Bell Irving Hatchery
Post by: Geff_t on February 03, 2012, 12:44:00 PM
;D Well I got some great news today and I thought I would share it with you guys. There is a small hatchery here in Maple Ridge that is on a small stream called Kanaka creek and this hatchery is about 28 years old and has seen better days. The organization that runs the hatchery has been loggying DFO for funding to replace the building and the money has now finally come in. So this June the building will be torn down and the new one will be ready for operation in October 2012. It is so great to see that with all the cut backs these days that they have decided to keep the hatchery running. Now if we could only get steelhead back to this system all would be perfect.

That's great news! Is it named after a DFO veteran who is the current community advisor for the sea to sky region by any chance?
