You will be very hard pressed to find chrome chum anywhere on the Chehalis. If you have a boat then your best bet is the Harrison. If not then the lower Stave.

You won't find anything in the Chehalis .Was there for a few hours yesterday below the canyon . Did not see 1 chum . The Harrison is loaded with Chum . If you have a boat is good . If not you can hike up from the # 7 bridge , or down by the log booms .

Saw lots of dirty Chum in the Chehailis this weekend, dont waste your time on this flow for clean Chum.
If you want to see if you can get to the confluence, scarf down a big breakfast, pack a lunch, and give it a go...but not without waders and a good sense of adventure...just sayin' ;)

You could try at the Fraser / Nicomen slough confluence with spoons or spinners.

What are some of the best lures or baits to use to catch Chum in fresh water?

Don't get sucked into using wool. Sometimes chum actually bite wool, but wool at the end of floats around in the current and is prone to snagging fish, wasting your time, tackle etc. Jigs are better because they hang vertical and don't snag fish often. Fish about 2' off the bottom. Pink and purple work well.
