Has anybody out there tried paddleboard (SUP) fishing yet? If so, I'd sure like to hear from you.

I fished from a surf board before. paddled out through the surf with my rod in my mouth, wearing a pack sack to hold my catch. Sat up and casted into schools of jaques travelles. Fun. A paddle board would be easier. WOuld look cool too.

You're probably better off trolling around some Florida boards to get info. To me the paddleboard drafts more (they usually have a big skeg in the middle), carries less gear and is tougher to paddle than a kayak with a possible benefit of being able to stand up more of the time. I'd still take my 12 ft jon boat over any paddleboard I've seen so far and I've seen dozens in the water, but never anyone fishing from one yet..

A lot of people do it down here (I'm in South Florida now, for the most part.) Although the preferred option is a kayak. They make some kayaks that have a sort of tunnel hull, and you can stand up on them and cast. I rented one a few weeks ago in the keys and had a go at it, they are actually very stable, and you can cover water much more effectively. Have rod holders etc. as well.

Thanks for all the great input, guys. Sure looks like fun, especially the way the young lady on the Bote Board does it.

Driller, was trying to send you a PM but can't figure out how and where to do so. Could you get back to me at the email address in my profile? Would like to talk to you a bit more about your SUP board experience. Thanks.
