Title: Daiwa Luna mod
Post by: Matt on November 03, 2011, 06:43:39 PM
Never liked the stiffness of freespool thumb bar on the Luna.  I much prefer the stiffness of the freespool on Abu reels.  I pulled apart my new-to-me Luna last night to see if I could rectify this issue.  Turns out it was quite simple, now the thumb bar is very similar to the stiffness of the my Abu reels which feels better to me.  I liked the stiffness of the thumb bar when the the spring was bent from the factory angle of ~150* to around 50*.  Note that the thumb bar still functions without this spring and the sole function is too increase the stiffness of the thumb bar.

Cool mod.

Funny how similar the guts of the lunas and calcuttas are.

I pulled mine apart last night to change out the Anti-reverse ratchet and pawl and now its like new again.
