Title: cleaning and lubing centerpin reels?
Post by: Weatherby on October 13, 2011, 06:27:02 PM
Hey all. How do you go about cleaning up your centerpin reel's? What do you use to clean the bearings?Do you use any grease anywhere on the reel? or just sewing machine oil?

Thanks

One thing I never ever do is to dump my centerpin or any reel into the river to take a picture.

Lighter fluid works well to clean old grease/ oil out of reels.

on old style bushing reels I used Youngs 303 (gun oil) ,or singer sewing machine oil. any oil will gum up, center pins like guns need a cleaning after an outing.
