Title: Tidal Fraser River, September 17th 2011
Post by: Dr. Backlash on September 17, 2011, 01:16:27 PM
Much more action today.  Fished the incoming tide with pink spoons, hooked 7 fish, landed 3 (1 male 2 females).  Water clarity was great, and there definitely still are fish moving through.  Actually I saw quite a few more fish than last weekend.  Can't wait to get out there again tomorrow morning.  Most of the action is basically an hour before high tide, during high slack tide, until about an hour after high tide.  Also saw some kind of a falcon or hawk catch a smaller bird (maybe a sparrow?) in mid air and take it to a big tree branch and feast on it - pretty cool!

Was out this morning and landed three. They were not very eager biters. I kept one doe for dinner tonight, all the fish I caught were does and most in the last few days were as well ;D

Fished Abbotsford area this morning from 10am-12:30pm. Landed 20, lost a few more. Awesome morning!!! Brought 4 home for the smoker. Only kept the nicest freshest fish. 3 of the 4 I kept had sea lice on them.

Got my limit in mid river today. Lost 4 before landing my 2nd of the day - I was totally doubting myself before I got my last 3 in the course of about 20 minutes or so up at 2 bit. Only a couple of guys there and ended the day fishing a wide open beach with a couple other dudes - nailing the fish. 1:00pm the bite was ON!

Curing up some roe ikura style, going to see how it is on crackers with cream cheese. Will post results in the kitchen.

I'm loving it!

Fished 6:30 - 8:30 in the langley area landed three nice does with sea lice on them. My son landed two, we lost a few along the way also. I got three yesterday in the same spot in four hours, going out again on Monday. Need a few more for the smoker.

Can't be much of a feast if it was a sparrow. ;D

Awesome to hear! Where you the guy that I gave the lure to at the end of the day, or the dude wearing all black? In either case - that was fun having the beach to "ourselves" during while that huge afternoon run came through! Wanna go fishin' sometime?  :P

Wow, I'm glad some of you got something today.  We fished the incoming from 5:15 to 7 pm in South Richmond Dyke Road.  We hooked 2 and lost both! :-[  I myself only saw one caught and not much action.  It was tough fishing trying to cast spoons with the wind coming head on.  Will try again tomorrow.

Pretty good outing this evening, for some. :P

Nina outfished the boys, by quite a bit. ::) She hooked six and landed four of them. I managed to bring two of three fish on the line in. Fishersak landed one. Not a whole lot of fish hooked among a dozen other anglers, I counted about six other fish while we were there.

No chuck I was the guy you gave the lure to. And thank you very much by the way, got me into a couple more after you left before I lost it :( Also thank you Chuck for the roe, cured up about 5 pounds of it last night :)

BGW2B yeah that looked a little uncomfortable lol, thought you may have taken a spill. Either way it was an unreal day out there, so many fish... Gonna try and pick out a hoe or two on the vedder tomorrow.

Hey no worries! Glad it worked for you a couple more times. I "cured" up the little roe that I kept last night and had it on a cracker with cream cheese! Pretty good actually!

I was out there yesterday by the train bridge. Tons of fish coming up steady all day (pinks only) but they werent really biting. i think the water was a bit to clear and the fish were spooked with all the lead swinging by them.  a nice push of fresh ones came through at about 4pm and thats when i had my only real bites. best thing for me was drifting pink lazer wrap flies w. 10lb flourocarbonand a small peice of lead. they seemed to have no interest in spoons.
