Any recommendations on baits to try at this time of year?

Only for salmon fishing.
-
really? does that even make sense, they are in the same water , you throw out roe for sturgeon and how can you make sure salmon doesn't bite
so Capilano river is bait ban now, is it for coho or everything? Can I still use bait in cap for like trout in that case?

Possibly, but unlikely. The gear type (hook size) used for sturgeon is not so effective for salmon.

No, because for the Capilano River, it is a total bait ban for all species.

the difference is the size of the bait on your hook as well as the size of your hook

grab a floater and bring some gloves and a strong stomach and cut it up and tie it on and toss it in !

thx for the info

maybe, but i would think it has something to do with the fact that your fishing 30-50ft on the bottom......

Yup dead fish stew in sacks works awesom! Just make sure you have strong stomach:)

Better yet, grab the floater, cut it into strips and stick the strips in a ziplock bag in an old drink cooler (one you will never want to use again for anything else) for 3 days in this heat. This "stink bait" will get you hooked up.

Pink salmon body parts at this should work the best for Sturgeon.
-
Pink Roe is working well know maybe tried a bit o' flesh on the hook as well.

+1 on stinnk bait hooked and landed alot of sturgeon last year.

floaters of all kinds, but my guess would be fresh pink right now.
they are sick of sockeye, they would like a change.

I have been sitting quietly on a hole, having steady success, when I see a charter boat hurriedly pull anchor and race out to net a floater. Must be good bait. The stinkier, the better, I guess. What some guys won't do for a tip...I mean fish.
