Title: Tidal Fraser River, August 28th 2011
Post by: scouterjames on August 28, 2011, 05:13:29 PM
Just got back from ft langley area for a couple hours at the end of slack.... so many netters out - they are the only ones with any luck today!  There were a half dozen fishermen out - only some coarse fish caught that i saw.... a lot of boats trolling and floating around too  -  only sign of fish was one half hearted jump.  pretty muddy too!

Where were you??I was in the Fort langley area and fished  until 4:30,yes lots of boats and boats with lots of idiots:)Also counted about 50 or so pink risers most were close to shore and one on for a head shake or two then it was gone.Watched a native dude drop his net and in minutes most of his floats were under,so i would say that there are lots of fish in the river! the only thing is being  high and dirty are we going to get a shot at them or do we have to wait until they hit cleaner water??

Was down at the river and it sure is dirty allright.
Was cleaner a couple weeks ago wasnt it?
Is it from rain up north or still the run-off?

Just got back from Richmond, wont say where, in the span of an hour about 40 to 50 risers, pissed at myself for leaving the rod at home, 2 guys show up and 3 fish in the span of 30 minutes, guess what Im doing tomorrow... ;)

Definitely a lot more risers this afternoon/tonight than previous days so it's a pretty good bet that we'll see a good push of fish during the evening high tides this week. We fished briefly this afternoon, saw quite a few rises, but decided to leave home for dinner and save the catching for tomorrow.

Still runoff coming with the recent hotspell, we were fishing a bar for a few days, yesterday it was completely under water. Probably explains the muddiness down below.

Was down on Dyke Rd. tonight from 5:30 to 8 pm for the incoming tide.  Saw lots of risers some close to shore some further out.  We tried spoons and spinners of different colors.  We threw them on top of the school, beyond it, beside it, upstream of it and downstream of it but could not get a bite.  haha It was a gorgeous nite though.  Water clarity was really bad tonight and the surface debris....wow it was everywhere.  Every cast I'd catch sea weed on my swivel.  It was encouraging to see the movement  and presence of fish.  Did not see fish caught around me but I'm sure someone did!!  Gonna keep tryin.  Happy Fishin.

Thompson isn't all what its cracked up to be. A few people see things when others aren't looking.   ::)  ;)  Many summers have been spent up there, and it sure isn't what it used to be. No where near it.

Saw quite a few pinks and a spring landed by a bunch of guys flossing  on the Fraser near Chilliwack today. I wasn't one of them.

Was fishing Sandheads (mouth of South Arm) by boat this weekend. Lots of pinks there and it was not hard to limit out on them. The sockeye were harder to hook though.

I was down in the same area from 4-5:30pm last night, must've left a bit too early... had to get back for dinner plans.  Saw only 6 fish rise the whole time I was there - three were pinks, and three were sturgeon.  :)  Lots of netting going on across the river as well.

Also saw a guy pull a nice little sturgeon in from a nearby pier - pretty fun watching everyone's reactions the first time it surfaced!  Especially the kids, they were going bonkers.  :)

Fished brownsville bar for a couple hours before sun down. No signs of activity. No reports of catches from the other fishers either.

Fished the end of No. 3 road from 7.30pm to 8.30pm last night. Had one brief tug and that's it. Been trying that spot in Richmond all of last week but no hookups yet  :(. Hope this week will be better  :). Good luck and enjoy this fishery while it lasts  8). Tight lines.
