I went out for a couple of hours after work on wednesday. The river was a ghost town with very few people fishing. I saw a couple springs jump in front of be but they were dark and ready to spawn. Had 2 bites but I was daydreaming... probably for the better as the fish should be left alone to spawn...

I was down on the Canal early Am today, the water was dead calm so i just sat on the bank and watched.Saw about 5 or so large fish jump one was a pink for sure the others looked a little big to be pinks but it was early and i was a wee bit hung over:) So who knows.

spent the weekend at Cultus with my family went to the river friday am no biters...spent saturday and no biters....did some scouting and the river looks so different from last year and i found some sweet runs that will be good in few weeks... i did miss a couple of bites on my fly but i was day dreaming too much...it was a nice weekend...

Thanks for all the information, will bring my son there tomorrow and let him practice more.

How did you make out Staffy?
-
Went upstream and saw around 4 to 5 cars along the way, dead calm and no fish, not even a pink.

Was throwing a spoon around 1st light on Sunday.
Hit a small jack spring, a dolly, and a few nice rainbows (and a bunch small). Had one viscous hit that almost took my rod but somehow missed it.
Lots of really nice rainbows around too, buddy got one that was probably close to 2 pnds or more on roe. Roe flies were also working very well on trout.
Should turn on any day now....
Cheers,
Dan

Glad to see the spring jacks are showing up already. Is it just me, or do coho come in sooner in pink years? They at least seem to be more catchable when the pinks are in. Hopefully the pinks will be in by this weekend so I can have a break from the Fraser action.

I did say "small" spring jack. I wouldn't say they are anywhere close to being in yet.
Hit that run with spoons and roe for a good 2 hours and only had that little one and that's it. Still gonna be a while, probably the first decent rain.
