I have been told that the Coquitlam River Cleanups are usually held in spring. I don't recall seeing it advertised, but with my latest trip to the river, I'm positive it just hasn't happened yet this year - it's quite astonishing to see the amount of garbage that finds its way to the river bank and even in the river itself. :(
Who is in charge of arranging said cleanup? Could we take the initiative to arrange something ourselves?

Phone Riverside tackle shop. I believe the are the ones that have arranged a clean up in the past.

The Great Canadian Shorline Cleanup week is almost here, September 17-25, 2011
About: http://shorelinecleanup.ca/en
"The Vancouver Aquarium has coordinated cleanups in Canada since 1994, when a small team of volunteers conducted a local shoreline cleanup in Vancouver’s Stanley Park. In 2002, the Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup became a national program, providing all Canadians the opportunity to make a difference in local communities, while taking part in a nationwide event. "
Their map shows one organized cleanup on the Coq for that event and many more both above and below the Highway needing co ordinators and volunteers...
many other areas as well!

Thanks for the link. I did find some upcoming cleanups scheduled, but I will phone Riverside and see what they know about it. This system is in need of a full cleanup and will have it's work cut out for it. Thanks guys
