Nice set DS - any pics I get when whale watching are generally mostly water with the tip of the tail showing or just ripples (they were there - honest!).
Hopefully I am nice enough this year so that Santa would 'present' me with a better (faster) camera in December.
:)

LOL - I took 1400 pictures to come up with about 80 that didn't suck. ::)
These things are tough!

I must have taken hundreds of whale pictures over the years, but a great image like these are difficult to capture. Great snaps!

Thanks for the positive words, but I'm not thrilled with them. I wish I could go out EVERY day and spend HOURS following and shooting. I KNOW I can do better.... just was limited by the time :(

Yeah, hard buggers to catch/do justice to.
I was out on a Pelagic bird watching tour over the weekend. Trying to get a decent shot of a sheerwater or an albatross with a point and shoot camera in 10 foot waves, not easy.

Yeah, I imagine!
Where was the tour? What was the length/cost? Sounds interesting.

It was out of Ukee. $250. 6am to 2pm-ish. 40+ Kms offshore.

And you didn't get to FISH while you were out? :o

I think my fiance would have thrown me over board if I casted a line out.
There were krill and bait fish balls that seemed to be a kilometer wide/long out there.
I could only imagine dropping down a buzz bomb or casting out a streamer and hooking into a monsterTuna or God knows what else.
