Inside info do you? That's pretty strange. Everyone in the meeting room seems pretty legitimate to me.

Does this maybe mean that this weekend might be the weekend to start supporting the economy with bottom bouncers and hooks? ;D

Dont be so flippant - last year I lost more gear on 3 trips bottom bouncing than the rest of the season put together!

Which supports the fact that this fishery is a clown show.

I do so hope you're lying/incorrect. The last thing we need is more bottom bouncing.

There is a commercial opening announced yesterday: http://www.psc.org/NewsRel/2011/Announcement10.pdf
They had meetings 2 days in a row (Monday and Tuesday) - that could signal a rec opening.
We'll hear more after 4:00pm today.
-
I participate in these meetings. A majority of samples are dominated by Harrisson fish (40% - 55% of each sample). These fish are historically later running, but have arrived early and are stronger than forecasted this year. This is the only anomalous trend this year, as all other stocks are tracking quite low and more or less to forecast. The 2 meetings in a row are focused around area US area 4b, 5, 6c, 7, 7a openings and Area D gillnet fisheries remaining open - the last thing on the agenda is recreational openings.

Marine recreational fishery retention of sockeye to start Wednesday August
10th. Check with specific Fishery Notices for further details.

Lower Fraser River recreational fishery opening is being planned for the
weekend. Details will be available after the recreational planning call this
evening with a Fishery Notice announcement tomorrow.
The next meeting of the Panel is scheduled to occur on Friday August 12, 2011.
