Title: A message for the guy in the red jacket and tilly hat at peach rd yesterday
Post by: MIKE1 on August 03, 2011, 10:36:38 AM
Message to guy in Red Mecc jacket and tilley hat with gold bait casting reel and green rod, dark bown mustache and jeans that left when I was in the outhouse.

If you want to make racist remarks loud enough for non white joggers to hear Stay at home.

If you think that just because I'm engaged to a Chinese girl I'm an idiot and that I should "wise up" and tell your buddies in front of me that I'm an idiot. Stay home.

If you have a problem with people that arnt from Chilliwack fishing near your spot though they were there hours before you there stay at home.

If you lose your scissors need to borrow a abit of roe, okay FINE but don't leave with my whole container of bagged roe and scissors while  Im taking a ****. Two guys saw you high tail it, but they thought the white container was yours.

Maybe you were having a bad morning but you really don't have to ruin everyone elses. Its over an hour drive from where I live in get to "your" river.

You told me that your in this forum sometimes, Id love to hear from you so you can explain what happened.

So, any fish? ;)

Judging by the mood of the posts on the forum lately, I'd say the Valley salmon fishing season is now in full swing.

The CO's need to take a stance on hillbillies like that similar to the one they take on bears - if the animal is a consistent nuisance, it is relocated or destroyed.  Imagine the possibilities!!

Can you say "casting room at the crossing"!!!

Amy fish? ;)

Judging by the posts on the forum lately, sounds Line the Valley salmon fishing season is in full swing.

Thursday last week 1 sockeye and one spring, no color on the spring. Nothing yesterday for me but saw 3 fish come out of the water from 7am-10am.

Seems to heat up with a run (two or three fish caught in 45min) around 9am then it goes dead.

People read this: I have made the trip to the vedder 6 times since Red spring opened, caught 2 springs, I would say that it's an un-usually good year for them, people need to remember though that this is still a super small fishery and that means I spend 4 other trips up there (thats 7-8 hours driving total min + a tub of roe) with no joy before you race up there, Im pretty sure this fishery slows down really soon too?

Used roe hot pink roe bags with borox roe... my whole house smells like oily fish because Ive been making so many.

this is why i dont fish the vedder. First time i went there i had some weird guy trying to borrow my gear. i said no and then he stalked me while i was fishing. I have heard stories of people almost getting into fist fights on the vedder, but just thought it was just scare tactics to keep people from fishing. I am a patient man and just brushed it off, but could see how someone might feel a little annoyed and violated. thought fishing was suppose to be peaceful *shrugs*

well if that was true then the DFO would have been dismantled decades ago.

The way DFO is managing the stock, we'll be where the East Coast is with their cod stocks.

you could save yourself some trouble, if you learn how to tie a bait loop. Its a knot you tie to you hook and you can open the loop and put in a chunk of roe and snug it up so your roe doesnt fall during the drift. Go to your local tackle shop they will show you how to tie it. berry's bait and tackle showed me.

All I've heard is how bad the attitude and etiquette is at the Vedder, something that has always kept me away from it .... this looks like another example.  Sounds like a real loser, what goes around comes around, sorry that he ruined your day on the river.

yea, its guys like that, that give other people a bad name. Don't forget not all local fisherman are like that and a lot of them are more then welcome to share a pool or drift with people. I have noticed before peach road can be bad. I remember when  was younger (around 14) there was a guy smoking pot and doing coke while fishing. He was bottom bouncing and then freaking out on people for crossing his line.

this is unfortunate to hear .

It's bad enough we have car break-ins while were out fishing , but now fisherman ( and I regret calling this thief a actual fisherman ) are stealing from you when you give them help .

I also feel bad for the river ... yeah it may sound wierd , but rivers are a place to get away from the hectic lives we live , and every other thread on most forums are giving the vedder a bad name . If all the good guys are chased away from the river , then it will never get any better if only the low life's fish there . They are the same ones that leave trash , snag fish , and polute the back roads . The good guys gotta keep on it and keep supporting that river system despite the negative actions of others . Remember , there are still good places to fish on the river , just have to put some hiking time into it .

What a loser. It's no lie, these meatheads always show up on the rivers, I just ignore them. But you have to have thick skin if you're gonna fish the vedder or fraser that's for sure. But these guys always get what they deserve - last year on peg some guy pulled out a knife and got tackled by an off duty cop. can you say justice?

But hey, check this video out, this is how i first learned how to tie an egg loop, the guy explains it very well http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CnCqtoku-XE

I agree... I really should say to lighten up the thread that there were a couple of really cool guys there: guy picking up garbage, new fisherman asking lots of good questions, also picking up garbage, older guy helping me out by asking me if I wanted his spot because I was there second longest to him etc.

I dont fish salmon on the Vedder-gave that up many yrs ago because of all the stuff mentioned in this thread.I do fish it hard for steelhead and avoid the meatholes and crowds. The postive thing i would like to share is the thrill of walking into a spot on the vedder with nobody around and hook and land a big steelhead by yourself. Its these moments that truely make the Vedder a great river to fish.I have fished alot of steelhead rivers over the yrs and the Vedd offers a good chance to catch large hatchery steel. I only keep one or two per season for the table, but its nice to have the option. So what im trying to say its not all bad. A awesome time can still be had fishing a great river like the Vedd.Alot of people dont realize how lucky we are to have a river like the Vedd.So treat it with all the respect it deserves and appreciate it for what it is.Fish ethically and pack your garbage out. Thanks

That's probably the same guy who cut you off on the way there, talking on his cell phone and swearing at anyone in front of him.  Don't worry dude, one day he'll get his.

Yeah... there are some real morons at CV.
Peach Road area is a well known "combat fishing zone" even during steelhead season, so I would imagine it would be worse during salmon season.
But the river has 30km of fishable area, so if you walk or drive around, you could find a quiet spot.
It is a great river, so it attracts all kinds of people, including racist morons like the one captioned.

thats to bad that happened,he'll have his day.i was up fishing the skeena earlier this summer and somebody tried to bust into my car at 4am,it happens everywhere!!!!good thing i have an alarm otherwise i would of lost a bunch of equipment and my buddies stuff to.theft and ignorance is province wide unfortunately,it isnt strictly the lml where this happens.i have witnessed all sortts of ignorance while fishing but what gets my blood boilin the most is when people kill or mishandle wild steelhead mistaking them for springs or coho......fishing should have a course like the Core before you are able to get a license......jmo
