Title: Chilliwack River, July 30th 2011
Post by: Aki on July 30, 2011, 08:24:52 PM
Buddy and I went for a few hours today with a late start near 10am. Tried lower and upper river. Water looked great but still pretty high. Didn't see any springs but buddy hooked and landed a couple of sockeyes (gently released). Hopefully the water comes down a bit in the next week or so. Beautiful sunny day to explore the river and see how it has changed over the winter.

I went out today planning to fish the crossing but ended up having a nice lunch then going home. On a good note it was nice to see the DFO out checking licenses but I think they would do a better job if they left the parking lot and went down to the river.

I saw another. Watched 16 anglers within arms reach of each other in a slot about 50' long.  We might as well go back to treble hooks >:(

I don't understand why people are flossing them!  :o  ::)
Me and a buddy hooked 13 in just under 2 hours the day before I left  :o
If you wanna catch em they'll bite, there's no point in flossing them if you can't even keep them! What a piss off  >:(

Will there be one? My bet is no but I have been wrong with the Leafs before. ;D ;D The F word is out 2 days before August so why not the T word a couple of months before the season starts. I know a sick comparison. ;D ;D ;D

Going fishing now.

They should open the Sockeye any day now. Tied up some nice wool offerings for them to bite on. ::)

i think there will be a sockeye opening... went over to upper Fraser around Chilliwack area to check out some native fisheries, they all doing pretty well, short drift, short net, they averaged out to be about 30-50 fish per set.  Also got couple reports from the native fisheries in the lower Fraser first day opening 7am-7pm, 350 fish in one boat, the other one got just over 400.  Also the test set around area 20 been pretty Strong.... i sure hope they open it up, great for business.   ::)
