Besides those that tie flies themselves ... who in the Lower Mainland has a good selection of flies?
Going to start up a box of flies and want to have a variety of wets, dries and streamers ....

Barrys Bait and Tackle is Richmond is where I go.
-
it would greatly help if we knew what town your located in so to give you a few close by
I personally have only ever bought from Michael & Young fly shop (surrey location)
-
You up for buying them online?
I find ones online are much better quality (generally) than ones from shops which tend to fall apart.
Started tying my own because ones from stores (especially "big ones like Outdoor wearhouse, etc) fall apart.
Can give you a link if you want to a guy that ties really nice ones and will also do up whatever flies you want. Good price too.
Cheers,
Dan
For everyone actually.... check out his stuff, really nice ties:

Thanks everyone, dropped by Berry's today and picked up a few dry/wet and streamers .... now I just need to catch fish lol!
-
I have bought from these guys, not local but excellent quality, good prices and shipped fast. http://www.ickyflyworks.ca/
Thanks they have a really nice website, I'll have to check them out on my next order :)
-
i tie my own but i always used to get my flies at micheal and young and the big outdoor warehouse store in langley has a good selection
-
Sea Run Fly and Tackle, huge selection of flies, and great quality too
-
Flytyingforce the guy is awesome to deal with and has them ready when he said would:)
-
If I were to buy flies, I'd prefer to go to a fly shop like M&Y. I've picked up a few samples from M&Y and Ruddick's (now closed down....unfortunately :( ) and they seem well tied, but I've never used them myself. The guys at M&Y in Vancouver are great guys and they've given me great tips for tying! I know they tie flies themselves, so I'd get them there if I had to... ;)

Highwater Tackle in North Vancouver mostly.
-
x2 Highwater Tackle. Good quality and reasonable prices.
-
I would suggest my friend Terry Minnisof Cranbrook, who does a mail order bus in flies and has the largest selection of flies he ties himself I have seen Lars46@shaw.ca or check out Hatch Match'r Fly & Tackle in Maple Ridge. Pretty much anyone who teaches classes in fly tying will be selective in the quality of flies they sell.

Went to m&y over the weekend, nice quality and selection of flies, friendly helpful service as well.
-
I buy almost exclusively mail order. It is insulting that local shops are charging $2-2.50 for a standard nymph / wooly bugger etc. I dont believe the quality argument holds up so much either - besides once a trout has chewed on a fly a couple of times it probably needs replacing anyway.
http://www.flymail.com/ in the UK is very reasonably priced - they may not have the local BC patterns but thats what imagination is for!

Just received a couple dozen (mostly dries) from these guys. Seem like good quality and the prices were very reasonable.

before I started tying my own flies, I picked some up from http://www.cowichanriverflyfishing.com/ (http://www.cowichanriverflyfishing.com/)
If you ever feel like trying to start tying your own flies dont be over whealmed when starting. It seems a bit confusing at first but if you find a local shop or someone to get advice form you can learn pretty quickly. There are some good books and manuals, you will save a bit of money on buying flies and more importantly you can be creative and tie any fly you need. Also catching a fish on a fly you tied is pretty rewarding
-
Another thing I did when I first started tying and occasionally still do if the pattern is complicated is go to a good quality fly store, I usually go to M&Y, and purchase 1 fly of what I want to tie and use it as a sample.
-
Pacific Angler in Vancouver always has the hot patterns readily available and quality is good too.
-
Berry's in Richmond and West Coast on Hastings... ;)
-
riverside fly and tackle, a really good chunk of the flies are tied in shop there, and of course are of the best quality, maruto and tiempco hooks for all.
-
I buy them from all the stores (except if they're over $2.50 - that seems to be the top price I will pay), however I usually only buy them to copy at home.
All the places listed above but Berry's I've found to be the best value. West Coast, Michael and Young, Fred's Custom and 3 Vets in Vancouver actually has a decent stock. Not the best organized but also pretty good value.

If I were to buy instead of tie, I would buy from Geff T
