Title: Halfmoon Bay fishing @ sunshine coast
Post by: humble_kid on July 08, 2011, 05:45:06 PM
I went to Gabriola Island today with a bunch of friends and caught a lot of rock cod, red snappers, etc..   A friend of mine then said there is a rock cod reserve near Halfmoon Bay at the sunshine coast. Fishing is not allowed in that area. But even right outside the area, rock cod can be caught every 5 min... Can anyone verify this? I personally think it's kind of unreal to catch a rock cod every 5min... Thanks..

Somehow I think the objective of rockfish conservation reserves is not being understood here...

If you are catching rockfish every five minutes then you need to move.

???

Implying that if he was, in fact, catching rockfish every five minutes in a conservation zone, it is likely devoid of rockfish, and therein conservational value...
