Title: Capilano River, July 4th 2011
Post by: cutthroat22 on July 04, 2011, 12:14:58 AM
First time out in a few weeks to the Cap.  I didn't hear my alarm go off so didn't arrive until 9am.  Did not see one fish for the 3 hours I was there.

Yesterday was a good day for me! Lots of fish still moving through the lower end. Quite a few big ones too!River still very fishable and if it stays like this for a couple weeks will be some good times to be had!

I'm assuming it was my poor timing (missed the tide).

I am confident between 9am and noon that zero fish moved through the area I was fishing.

There are certainly plenty of fish up around cable pool and coho loop.

Lots of fish still moving through the lower end.

That is absolutely amazing to hear! :o
Fishing has been spotty at the lower river lately with even some local top rods getting skunked.
Good for you hotrod!

Hotrod is trolling trying to stroke his ego because he knows we can't fish where he fishes so then he reports that there are lots of fish where he was fishing because there are.

He posts these reports and then us regulars get crowded out of our spots by Joe Newb who read on FWR that the Cap was on fire when in actuality it's not that great. Everyone that has fished the Cap for years or knows the river well knows that the fish school up below Park Royal bridge and are too scared to shoot through the flat to the next pool by Marine Drive so they become easy pickens for Hotrod and his people.

I respect the fact that Hotrod and few other people actually float fish that area but it's discouraging when he comes on here bragging that he did well when most don't get to experience the same thing and instead have to find a quiet piece of water that you get crowded out of.

Perhaps the colour of your glasses is wrong... try some with a bit more of a rose tint.  I read that as a nice report telling people that the fish are still moving up.  He didn't mention "Hah - I can fish where you can't!" or the like.  Try to take posts at face value.
