I am looking at doing this bar fishing for chinooks on the upper Fraser and need to know what types of rod and reel I will need. I have seen the five part bar fishing seminar that was posted on this site and Now I am hooked and really wanna try this. All help will be appreciated!
Thanks

Pretty hard to beat the old Penn 320 for a bar reel.

get an old moocher from a garage sale.
I love my diawa 275's
the 2 way drag might bother some.

I used a old Daiwa 7000C spinning reel loaded with 65lbs braid lines and Trophy XL heavy 10' fiberglass rod as Bar rig reel.

I have a fraser king and an Abu 7000. Unfortunately I will miss out on the majority of the summer bar fishing season, but will be working up north instead.
Should still be some worthwhile fishing time in September

The Fraser King and 7000 are a nice set-up.
As you can see there are many choices when it comes to a bar rod and reel.

Second on the old 275!! You could buy a new mooching reel for $65 and a big fiberglass rod for cheap.
