We've been going back to fish a bit more since last week's success but Saturday's effort came up empty handed. Today we went out for a couple of hours. The bait rods remained motionless the whole time except the occasional sway by the wind. I noticed that the water clarity was actually a bit better, possibly because of the sun, and I commented that we would probably do better by spinning lures.
Further down the river I saw a person fishing. He later on came over for a chat and turned out to be someone on the forum. He said that he managed to land one and miss one on a spoon. Soon after he left, I of course took the spoons out. ;D It only took about a dozen casts.

thats pretty wicked... do they hit like freight train?

Bottom fishing at Richmond this afternoon, I used dew worms for bait but no luck. Some got snagged and I changed to lure fishing, hooked a bull trout (around 17" and chubby) at the first cast, my first ever bull trout in Canada. Though I regret that I had forgot my camera. Fishing for another 30 minutes with one more hit.
I went to pick up my son from school and we went back to the same spot to fish, in one hour's time, he got two big hits and I got one hit, but none got landed.

still sounds like a ton of fun ktt.
i'll used lures and flies before, and only ever caught those pike minnow things,
so you can use worms (bait) in all of the tital fraser I take it ??? that would make things a lot easier ;D

Yes, I like to use worms, it is the most basic bait and they always work. Actually, I caught my first ever salmon (sockeye) in 2007 when I used worm to bar fishing at the south end of no. 3 road. I could not confirm the species until two other experienced anglers agreed that it was a sockeye. I never though that sockeye would bite a worm in the fresh water. Unfortunately, the sockeyes were not opened that year.

That fish hit pretty softly actually so I hesitated a little bit and was not surprised that it came off.

That point is a good spot for sure. ;) I've also caught coho, cutthroat trout, herring, pikeminnow over there. Now that you reported more hits after I left, I may just have to go back tomorrow. ;D

oh i agree, worms seem to work from everything. from bass to trout to you-name-it. ;D
i was just never sure about using worms (or live bait) in the lower (tidal) part of the Fraser. IMHO, the regulations are not very clear about it and I was never sure :/ now that being said, I am eager to get out and try some fishing in the Fraser with real bait. ;D

No problem with using worms in the Tidal Fraser River. The only time when bait is banned is during the interior coho salmon conservation period in early September to early October.

I have fished the fraser near where i live using worms and had some days when i had a bite every cast
but as fishing goes nothing the next day
I miss a lot of them as i dont like to wait for the second or third bite to strike as this sometimes means they take the hook down deep.
It is a fun way to fish with worms and cheap if you get your own

I tried the Fraser Tidal this evening, there were fish feeding on the surface, but I have no idea what they could have been ... any ideas?
