I would say lake as they have recently stocked several local lakes

well trout in rivers wont be overly active yet because the waters are still pretty cold and there isnt many good hatches happening to get them on feed mode. If you can grab a small watercraft then i would check out Mill and Lafarge if your new at fly fishing. this will allow you to be on the water where you wnt destroy flies hitting them against the ground. you can only shore fish at Green Timbers so being a decent to good caster will of course be better (you are not allowed to enter the water at all)

Im not sure of many rivers/creeks within 30mins of Surrey that you could fly fish for trout but the lakes are a good bet. The rivers around Surrey can be fly fished but its very difficult with the high banks and long overhanging grass.

Try Como, off one of the docks so your out a bit further into the water.. A green leetch with a beaded head was working quite well for my buddy! Good Ğluck!
