I am planning to go up to deer and trout lake this weekend and just wanted to know what the conditions are like and if the lakes are fishing good now.
Thanks

Usually they both fish well this time of the year. They will still be on the colder side though so slow retrieves or stationary presentations tend to work best. I haven't been up there lately, but I find the fish tend to be on the smaller size this time of the year so use light sensitive rods and have yourself a blast.

Thanks, I was up there last year at this time and had a blast!

I got up to Deer lake on thursday and did well fishing with dragons until around 10am when them bite went off. Gorgeous day out there though and the road in is in fairly good condition.
-
I've never been up there but would like to take the toon... Is it easily done in a car?
-
From what I remember deer lake is easy and has a launch on it. Trout lake is just off the road and accesed by a a trail I think. As for the road up it's totally accessible by car.

All three lakes up there are all accessible by car.

The information is in the freshwater regulations.
DEER LAKE (Sasquatch Park) π 2-18 Electric motors only
HICKS LAKE π 2-18 Engine power restriction - 7.5 Kw (10 hp)
TROUT LAKE (Sasquatch Park) 2-18 No powered boats

When "no powered boats" is mentioned, it also includes electric motor.
-
You can expect good action for small fish, on a very pretty little lake :) Nothing big, but I've had success there with the usual flies: small leeches, hare's ear, mayfly nymphs, damselfly nymphs, etc.

if your looking for numbers of fish and not size then trout lake is the way to go

so Rod, that means no electric motor at all?

That's correct.

if you fish in trout lake, try the dockside shore line, and where the stream feeds into the lake.....its a guarantee to get a fish on every cast....the rest of the lake isn't too bad either. Lots of little cutties, and rainbows. Handle them with care, maybe they will grow up one day.
