any particular colors for the Pixees?

The color probably contributes less than 5% to the effectiveness of the lure. It's more about where you put it.
-
I seldom fish lures, but in the past I have had moderate success with a rooster tail.

--For trolling... Water Wave (Compleat Angler) and Salmon Seeker.. Jim Babaloas, both spoons air brushed in assortment of Colours and patterns. And both now out of production for several years.
--Almost out and no way to replace them.

Gibbs Ultra. My go to spoon for cutthroat, in both fresh and saltwater.

Key is putting the lure in front of the fish with the right kind of action.
So depending on the depth, current, water temp and lighting situation, you will need to select the lure with suitable shape, weight and brightness.
Generally for more deeper and stronger current, you will go with elongated and/or heavier lure to take it down to the bottom where the fish are.
Whereas, shallower and less current will favour a tear dropped shape and/or lighter lure to keep it at the sweet spot.
Colder water will require bigger more flashy lure, and vice versa, to compensate for activity level of fish.
In cold water, say below 5 degrees, a 3" silver croc or #5 silver french spinner, works well for late season coho.
As water temp goes up, you need to tone down both size and brightness of lures to compensate for their level of activity.
In warm water, small black or copper spinners or spoons might be need to not scare fish away.

I've use the good ol' Rooster Tails for trout and salmon in rivers since I was young and find they always produce well. Landed a 36 lb chinnook in the Puntledge River back in the early 80's on a small purple one, 6 ft trout rod and 6 lb test to boot. ;D

Sorry, I am very tight lipped about this particular fishery.

for cutties the fraser, harrison, and stave are your best bet at catching em. there is more but i dont really wanna share. Just remeber to cover LOTS of water and wach carefully for risers. as for trout spoons in rivers i use a size 1 gold hammered colarado under a float. for lakes anything small and silver works good, also a weddingband with no bait works good to cast and retrieve.also i use size3 flatfish.

Thank you for the info, I was actually thinking of trying the stave or harrison.. so that works out well.. what other local fish live in those rivers?

also i know this is probably a dumb question but i have never fished a spoon with a float what are the benefits and is it your best bet to do that in the rivers?

A Colorado blade isn't a spoon, it's more like a very light spinner. The benefit is that you can keep your lure in the zone (1 foot off the bottom for salmon/steelhead) while the float moves downstream in rivers. Use of a float allows you to have longer drifts and to better control the action of the blade.

May 1st opening day on Tonkwa Lake, I caught the largest rainbow at 3 lbs, there were a few 2 lbs'ers caught by others , I used a wooly bugger behind a willow leaf gang troll, that fish hit so hard almost took the rod out of my hand 8)
