Okay we were looking for a lake close by that had decent rainbow fishing and a guy at Army & Navy said to check out mill lake. Anyone know anything about mill lake?? Were thinking of taking the belly boats and fly fishing if its worth while. Any help would be appreciated thx

put and take lake similar to rice, lafarge, green timbers. Sometimes they dump in a whack of 5-6 bound brood trout

There are some big trout and bass in there. Challenging though.

This is a great city lake. If I was closer to Abbotsford, I'd be there all the time. It's larger and deeper than Rice Lake with some steep drop-offs. Agreed with the previous two posters - there are some large fish in there.
Best,

Anyone know what makes for the best fishing there? Flies maybe worms? Definatley gonna use the bellyboats.

FYI, Mill Lake is scheduled to be stocked with rainbow trout this Friday so it is definitely worth considering taking a belly boat out there this weekend. Check back on Friday night and I should have a stocking confirmation posted in this thread:

its winter time so usually leeches work good or nymps and small shrimp patterns, still early for dry flies havnt really seen any hatches yet.

Does the belly boat and waders come with a heater; you might need it.

It's not deep on average, but it gets as deep as 10m near the NW corner not too far from shore.

I like chroni fishing mill lake early in the season. Fishing straight across from the dock on the far side of the lake in about 3 - 5 feet of water has worked for me:)
