I am trying to complete the 2010 survey of Recreational Fishing in Canada received recently by mail. 8 pages of questions !! The only previous fishing related government survey I got in the mail was a card regarding steelhead fishing which I completed annually for the past several years. In order to complete this survey accurately you would need to maintain a detailed log/diary of your fishing trips and expenditures for the year . Seems to me that Fisheries & Oceans Canada should have given fishermen already in their database a heads up about this detailed survey r for 2010 in order to collect reasonably accurate data for their 2010 stats !! Some of the questions in the questionnaire are interesting such as 8a -" Did you see a Conservation Officer on patrol while you were fishing in BC freshehwater in 2010".
Overall I think the questionnaire is way to long and trying to be a one size fits all document which most people will get half way through and give up on

They did actually, just kind of late and not that obvious.

The steelhead survey is distributed by the provincial government annually while this one is done by Fisheries and Oceans Canada (federal), which takes place once every few years.
I didn't get one... :(
