Decided to give the Nooksack a try instead of the Vedder on saturday..walked into a likely spot and immediately saw a buch of chums lying in about two feet of water with a drop-off behind them. I circled the chums and laid out a cast with an egg pattern which drifted through the chums and dropped into the deeper water and was inhaled by a gorgeous Dolly varden of five pounds. Got that fish to the beach and released. Went back up and the next cast yielded another Dolly a little bit smaller. In fifteen minutes..2 Dollys and three whitefish and then nothing. Fished up and down river in some nice water but only saw Chums and a dead spring..no coho. Did see a guy hit and keep a rather large black coho on the South fork later in the day up by the hatchery.
It was nice to fish a different flow for a change....only saw the one other guy and he was on the other side.
