Okay, so Itosh and I had this debate on the drive home the other day ::) Do you guys/gals wear under garments with your long johns or do you go commando? I go commando, because I hate the bunching of boxers and the overheating of briefs or boxer briefs ;D Itosh thinks this is weird and not the norm. He wears under garments with his long johns. For some people it seams to be a hygiene issue, because they treat their long johns as insulating pants so they wear them more than once before washing. I put my long johns in the wash after a day of using them btw.
Since there are so many serious debates about hooks, floats and other terminal tackle. I thought this one would be more personal than any other :P

I can go either way. When its super cold than some boxer briefs under the long johns. When its just a bit 'nippy' out just the long johns no briefs. Its not taboo to wear nothing under them as Itosh may think

This is an interesting thread, cause I was actually thinking about this the other day... I wear the good ol briefs under em :D
-
I wear fleece. Not sure how that'd feel on the willy. I wear boxer briefs, just as I would any other day.
-
under garments was the conversation topic in the car? I'm glad that I stayed home, again. ;D

When wearing undergarment stuff it is best to wear stuff that wicks moisture away from the body so no cotton.
I wear a undergarment that is made of spandex similar to under Armour but cheaper from walmart and probably just as good and is available in long john and shirts. I really like this as it allows the different layers to move freely. I also use it on my upper body (ones with long sleeves) and again it allows great movement and no bunching amongst other benefits which is great when you have lots of layers.
I'll then wear warming garment like fleece, wool, and stuff like that over top, this is a great combo and very comfortable!!!!
I have several sets so re-using is not an issue.

I wear wool stanfield long johns, so that would probably get a little itchy without something underneath :o
-
Who wears long johns ? ;D
-
thermal long johns. fleece or something. fleece is light, thin, and warm enough.

My missus always wondered what kind of forum this was... When I showed her this question - she stated that 'You guys are weird!" and then rolled her eyes.. :D
Back to the question - I like to keep the boyz warm and dry with boxer briefs under my long johns.
-
Boxer briefs are always part of the deal. In warmer weather, long johns usually mean polypropylene base layer under breathables, and in cold weather, it's fleece. In the rare -5C and cooler, I combine the two.
-
Depends.
-
I only wear long johns if its damn cold out and then i go commando as well. i dont weant the added bulk and heat around the boys anyways.
I will also wear them if im going to be standing in the river all day knee deep or better after October 1st usually because i get cold into my knees easily which starts to hurt after awhile and can even get quite painful.
Hook - never needs a thermal shirt though

I guess you wouldn't have to worry about how much coffee you drank. ;D

Hibernate at home playing video games till the frost lifts. ;D
-
I always wear the johns cause I'm always out there when its dark and cold :)
-
Boxers or briefs under my long johns, never know what'll happen those days without undergarments.
-
The brand is "paradox" and i got them from costco. They only come in black and are super warm and comfortable.
+1
The stuff is cheap and great, baselayer moisture wicking stuff.

Long johns with shorts over the top. Works great - no bunching and it keeps me very warm. The only downside is I look like a Morris dancer when I take off the waders and head off to Tim Hortons after a days fishing :)
