Your best chance for getting your son into some fish is the Vedder.

You can try the Fraser at Derby Reach. There is a nice family oriented campground there. You can take your picnic basket too.
Bring worms or bread if you want to stay clean and a small spinning rod with a float setup.

How old is your boy?  If he's over 10 years old, you can hit up some of the bigger flows.  With a young child, consider trying some of your local lakes for trout.  With children, especially young ones, safety first.  And check their hands often to make sure they're not freezing to death.

I'd agree with checking out the local lakes.  River fishing with a young child can be very tricky.  I know people who fish lakes with kids as young as five and have a great time.

Bukkit Wader: how old is your son?

I have a 3 year old and am very much looking forward to next summers pink salmon season during August/September.   It's a long way away but keep it in mind.

I have had my son out in the boat with me already more than once and he was only 15months at the time. I put his playpen in the boat and then him in it with a lifejacket on. Just takes some safety precautions and you can have your kids with you very young and remember that THEY decide when you get off the water......good thing for me mine loved it and gave me a full 2 1/2 hrs before wanting to go in  ;D

If/when i take him to moving water i will tather him to me with a small thin rope and he will be in a lifejacket at all times. the reason for tethering him to me is that if he goes for a dip and im not watching then he wont get swept any further then the length of rope he is on which wont be more then maybe 3 steps distance incase he goes under

I would suggest that this isnt the best time to try and get a child interested in fishing, personally i would wait until spring when the local urban lakes start getting stocked and/or when the pinks start running. just a suggestion

I ike to take my daughter who is five to the Stave river. You have a chance to ctach a coho and there usually is lots of chum around. And the kids love to watch the fish in the spawning channel.

My advice would be to take young kids fishing at a stocked lake. It's simple, fun, and doesn't require a lot of patience. When they are teenagers they will either move on to other interests or become passionate about fishing. I have one that went left and one that went right.
