What is a good glue for fixing waders?
I tired "seal all" and it went on okay but got stiff and cracked after one useage.

Aguaseal...stays pliable.

thanks - will try.
also the leak is on a tear on the boot part of the neoprene wader. so much larger then a pinhole.
would applying the aquaseal and then using duct tape (on the inside) be a solution? or should i try to aquaseal some sort of fabric to the tear?
-
sew it up first, then aquaseal, and a patch to reinforce.
-
Definitely Aquaseal - worked for me on a hole slightly larger than a pinhole - but not as big as a tear.

check this one: http://www.muckbootsonline.com/AquaSeal_Boot_Repair_p/aqua1.htm

marine goop

I fix everything like that with aqua seal. It is a great product. With tears sew then aqua seal over it.

Another vote for Aquaseal
-
ive had aquaseal heal up a slit about 3/4 inches long with no problems

Where can you buy Aquaseal? I fell last week and scraped the knee area of my waders. No hole but has a deep scratch and see through the top layer of fabric. So I'd like to seal it before it tears.

i think mountain equipment co-op sells it

I think most tackle shop carries them.

I also saw Aquaseal to Wal Mart two weeks ago. About $7-8 per tube IIRC (similar size as the Seal All tube).

I'm sure I've bought it from Canadian tire.

I have patched a number of rips in both neoprene and breathables. i have always used aquaseal and I have NEVER had to sew the rip, that seems pointless to me. The only time I have had to use a patch was puncture of a breathable set that went straight thru.
I would not recommend putting duck tape inside, your feet often get hot and sweat, I think duct tape would eventually come off leaving a big sticky mess behind.
Are you patching neoprene, and if so is the hole all the way thru? if it is I would do it in 2 steps - first use glue to join both sides of the hole back together, let it set 24 hours, then masking tape off an nice square patch, apply aquaseal over the repaired area, let it sit for and hour or two and remove tape, let second application set 24 hrs too.
Aquaseal goes on thick and then runs/flattens out after application. masking it will help create a nice clean looking patch instead of some "globby" looking hunk of glue.
Simms has a repair kit that includes one small tube of aquaseal and a 2 inch over patch, if you think a patch inside in neccesary, use that kit. from the inside put glue over the hole then center and apply patch, let it sit 24 hrs, flip right side out, mask off rip and repeat steps above.
BTW I have bought aquaseal tubes that essentially dried up after the first use so the larger $8 dollar tubes may not provide and more repairs than a smaller tube in the simms kit that contains the neprene patch...they are both roughly $8 at Pacific Angler.

Vaccum sealer does a great job at keeping contact cement "fresh" which is notorious for drying up. Haven't tried for aquaSeal but should be just as effective.
Anyone know if the new WalMart on Grandview Hwy has AquaSeal?
