Title: Chehalis River & Norrish Creek, October 17th 2010
Post by: Aki on October 17, 2010, 06:39:33 PM
Was at my favourite spot in the dark on the Chehalis (in the canyon area). Had one coho on just as it was becoming light but with the light gear (size 4 hook and 8lb leader) it spat the hook before landing it. The water is 'gin' clear and not many fish in the system. Saw one pool on the hike that was holding fish but it was in a area that is no accessible except with climbing gear! All in all a beautiful morning but unproductive. Went to Norrish after and lots of chums in the lower river (caught and released a few). Saw a few coho but they had lockjaw in the very low clear water. Beautiful mid October day - got some sun but no fish to keep. Need some rain to bring fish in and the water up.

Fished the lower section of the Chehalis on Sunday, going past the massive, massive log jam (bushwacking for sure), no love for me today, but did see a few Coho being taken, nice chromers too, up to 15 lbs, lots of dirty old Chum in almost every pool. Waiting for the rain to bring some more Coho into the system, hook ups are few and far between right now, but it sure beats the gong show on the Vedder.
