i cant remember the exact product to use if your after pefectly round thick balls for eggs but its not yarn. I have the actual "glo bug" yarn and it still leaves an emtpyish area by the hook unless i really build up the stuff (like triple it up)

make sure you get yourself some of that extremely strong thread for tying glo bugs, sorry i cant rememeber the name of it at the moment and mine doesnt have the sticker on it cause i just checked LOL

That's the product I was thinking of. I don't own any because I just don't fish eggs enough or I will use trout beads instead usually

Try using Mcfly foam for eggs

will this stuff work if tucked under an egg loop for float fishing?  Or am I better off tying some egg patterns then throwing that on a hook?

Somebody told me to try craft-store pompoms with krazyglue.

you can add a bit of yarn on the underside of the hook to fill it out but... trout and salmon don't care. I haven't seen McFly Foam locally for a few years - it is wonderful stuff.

you can buy yarn balls at craft stores like Michaels in suitable sizes and colours - just stich some mono thorugh the centre and tie the mono to the hook. I have never seen that wonderful salmon egg pink in that product tho', that's what catches me 85% of the fish I get on eggs patterns.

Cheers.

There is a fly and tackle shop right off whatcom road exit in abbotsford that carries the stuff. I think it may be a little pricey but seems better than other wool but haven't given it a try yet..

Try tying a sucker spawn instead of the standard round egg.  You can easily add weight and custom color combos.  It's also easy to make small versions by splitting the yarn and just a whole lot less messy / wasteful on the yarn material.
