Title: Crooked rod guide Question?
Post by: Justin on September 20, 2010, 12:05:46 AM
I was recently looking at one of my rods and noticed that the first guide closest to the butt of the rod is somewhat crooked.

Will this affect the performance of the rod or cause other issues that I should be aware of?

Thanks,

Justin

Don't think it should affect the performance of the rod but may limit your casting distance depending on how crooked. Bring it into a tackle and have them replace the guide. Should cost you a few bucks.

Straighten it out, if it breaks it needs replacing anyway. But yeah, have to see to damage to be sure.

The guide was actually wrapped crooked on the blank  :(.  I usually just bend them back like you suggested.

The rod is brand new so I think I'm going to take it back.
