Soooooo- I've been reading threads and one subject that leaps out is the lack of safe practices when fishing. Let's all chip in on this thread and maybe save one life. If that's achieved, then the thread was worth it.
1- Wading? Water a little quick? Wear one of the self inflating life vests. They aren't that expensive and the alternative doesn't look like much fun.

Never considered fishing a dangerous sport but hearing about the drownings and seeing a couple of close calls out there,I just purchased one of these inflatable devices.

I didn't feel that way either AF until I went under a root scour on the Skagit. Pretty scary doing the "washing machine" , but I never lost my rod. The video Chris posted from the Peg showed some folk have no respect for moving water. It's like like watching a death wish.

Why even take a chance if the water is a little quick even if you wear a PDF ?

Too true, but I've slipped knee deep in faster water and had a few scary moments. I get labeled as a bit of a chicken, but if it doesn't feel right- I just don't do it.

Isn't that susceptible to inflating when you are standing out in the rain?

Nope. It requires 4 inches of water before it inflates.

If it feels too dangerous to attempt, just don't do it.
Go with the gut feeling!!!!
