This may sound wierd but people seem to get great pleasure out of wacking sockeye.
Adults as well, but if you watch kids do it, they hammer the sockeye with un-abashed vigor.
I think it fills some primal urge that doesn't get filled anywhere else.

It,s in your blood, human been doing it for millions of years. Now we are a little bit more civilize, I enjoy release them too.

Yup, and be thankful that I have that outlet.
If it weren't for the fish and other game I whack, I'd be going around whacking people.
(especially when I forget to take my medication!) :D :P

So true, ive never met a kid who doesn't wanna smack the brains out of a fish.

Weatherby ...the Rifleman is one of the best 30 min western tv series ever !!! Super good acting.
Instead of clubbing the Sock over & over maybe we can get ahold of the repeater rifle & blast 15 holes in the head.
Mind ya I have to hook one of these "hardest to catch fish" 1st ...never mind 3 strikes your out...I've got 4 strikes...
Think I'm just going to have to make a trip to the Steveston Dock & buy 3 $14-$20 socks & display them near our home SO the neighbours will see them as they always peek to see if we have fish !!!!
Just as long as they don't ask me any ?'s (SURE DON'T WANT TO TELL FISH TALES...then I'll really feel guilty...always tell the truth about what I do or don't catch) If they look out hteir window ...they can make their own conclusions ha !

As far as over -clubbing a fish goes...better that than putting them live in the fish box only to flop around & have a slow death.
The only part I do not like is killing a fish esp when they seem to look me in the "eyes".

Have the guy at Steveston do what the guys at the Seattle market do, they throw the fish to you and you can honestly tell your neighbours that you caught it. ;D ;D

Well got some advice so now hopefully will start catching a few...TINKER TINKER with my trolling methods & presentation so see what happens...
