Shrimp is a very good bait for steelhead, but it is hard to beat roe for the springs. Cured, single eggs or roe sacks. I think the difference is that springs do not feed after entering fresh water and floating by roe is a competition roe that has to be squished. They don't swallow it, just mouth it. Same with spoons or blades, they simulates little fish. Chinooks snap on them as nuisance and roe thief s.

Some on this board like to use them.
They will also cure them with Pro Cure etc.
Dont be afraid to try different baits. ;)

I think I will try it , but i think I will bring along some roe as well :P

I have yet to hook a red on a shrimp and we have been trying. I usually will fish roe, blades, and a shrimp through a hole...none of the 7 or 8 I have hooked have hit a shrimp.

Light pink prawn with Mike's herring scent works wonders.

Shrimp balls...do them up like roe sacks...works great ;)
