I've used my fishfinder at the swimming dock at Lost Lake Whistler in May and June and it shows fish at the bottom at a depth of about 60 feet. I tried bottom fishing but couldn't get any bites. Do rainbow trout hang out that deep or would it be something else like kokanee?

I have the same fishfinder for my float tube and they aren't super accurate. Could be a bottomfish, trout, or? I have "seen" fish at 60 deep in much deeper water, dropped the downrigger and it turned out to be kokannee. As for what you are seeing on the bottom...hmmm...makes you want to get one of those underwater cameras that have become so popular down in the States. Good luck.

Those are definitely Ogopogo Fry.

I've caught rainbow trout at depths to 60' and the only reason I haven't caught them deeper is that my gear wouldn't allow me to troll deeper. Fishfinders aren't that accurate for picking out fish though. Perhaps if they were fish, they weren't biting.
