Yea just as the title says im wondering if anyone hit up the skagit for opening day and if so how was the water conditions and fishing in general? Any info would be greatly appreciated as I would like to make my way out there at the weekend. Cheers

your best bet is to just go and check it out yourself. Prepare for higher water though with freshet still going on. There is usually a few fish ready to play on opening weekend though ;)

Yea that is the plan and im sure it will be fun on the light gear cheers. :)

Anyone been out there in the last coupe days? When I head out there I bring my 3 weight, Unless i'm trying to target the dollies then I will bring the 5.

Multiple friends reported that the river didn't fish well this past weekend, dunno if its changed since then but I wouldn't cancel the trip because of a bad report a week before.

Im going to go there for the first tim this sunday. Cant wait! Any tips for the first timer? where would you recommend parking and starting the hike? I know I have to drive down silver Skagit road but I have never been in that area.
Thanks in advance.

The water is very low and we had to hike for fish. We found them outside of the easy access points. Big ones on Black Prince Nymphs. Copper Johns didn't seem to be firing like they normally would. Lots of hatches and no surface activity... Bulls 5lbs + as per usually in the typical water slamming egg sucking leeches.

Made it out there yesterday for the afternoon. Haven't seen that many coming off this year, even with all the rain. Lots of small blue duns and large green drakes coming off. Made for a good afternoon with about a dozen rainbows and a half dozen dollies.
