Annual fishing trip this year took place up at roche lake this last weekend.
Although the report wasn't looking to great the fishing was pretty good for the chironomiders and those that were dragging flies all caught something as well.
The biggest fish were let go at over 8lbs and 5.5 lbs caught by the same fisherman with the largest kept trout being 4.2 lbs.
One boat landed over thirty fish on saturday alone.
On sunday another boat landed over a dozen in one hour.
Will download some pics later.

nice fish fishingbuddha 8) , I was there last long weekend and caught a couple beauties , one was around 5lbs nice and ripe and a chromer about 3 lbs. Caught allot of snow that weekend too . micro leach and green woolly . Was it still busy out there ?

I'm leaving on sunday for a week,
a 5lber would be sweet.
anyone else going up?

Actually, it was the busiest i have ever seen this lake.
at one point in mud bay there must have been 50 + boats anchored up and chironomid fishing.

WOW that's crazy . 50 + boats . Getting to be a high pressure system ???. I don't think there were that many on the May long weekend , mind you ,the snow kept allot of the boats off the lake due to the cold . Well I am thinking 100 mile next trip I know of a few remote lakes that will great . Quiet too ! . Not giving up Roche just yet though :-\ .

heading up to Roche 5:am on the 6th for 5 days with the Spratley in tow. With some stability in the weather pattern and a new moon on the 12th should make for some very promising bite times this week..... one can only hope !! But I'm really looking forward to fishing brookies @ Horseshoe. Pics and report to follow.
