Just a heads up to all you Coquitlam residents. Fin Donnely has moved on to Federal politics leaving a big void for the protection of our streams and rivers in Coquitlam. I would like to fill that void and would really appreciate your support this Saturday, May 15, in the by-election for Council. If you want a voice for protecting our fish, being fiscally conservative with our tax dollars, and having absolutely NO financial ties to developers, unions, special interest groups, on, on , & on...... please consider coming out and voting for me.
Thanks!
Brian Babcock

To answer Nutterbug:
Background: 45 years old, husband, father, 25 year Coquitlam resident. Founder and former owner of Babcock Fly & Tackle (now Searun) on Austin Ave. I fish, hunt, and appreciate all things outdoors. I coach minor hockey and am very involved in the school program "Odyssey of the Mind". I do not consider myself a politician as I have no further ambition beyond Council. I'm a businessman with a will to be involved in my community.
Platform: Pretty basic really. I want to bring some fiscal responsibility to a Council that I feel has lost touch with reality. Spending is out of hand and with that comes increased taxes. I think that we can do a much better job of ensuring every tax dollar spent brings the maximum return. I'm tired of waste. I will also be a strong voice for sustainable development where the first priority will be the health of our waterways. Fin was starting to make some real progress with the gravel operations on the Coquitlam River. I would like to continue this dialogue with the user groups to ensure that we can improve the health of the river.
Policies: Honest, fair, and completely independant. I have made it my policy to not accept any financial contributions from anyone - period. In this manner, voters can be assured that I will do my best for Coquitlam and not what is best for any special interest group.
I hope this doesn't come off sounding like a bunch of BS from another politician. Those here that know me can hopefully attest that I mean what I say and I speak from my heart. I don't promise to solve all Coquitlam's problems. All I promise is to work hard and do my best.

Gosh you will not have any time for hunting or fishing when you you get elected. ;D ;D All the best as I believe you will fill Fin's shoes nicely.
