I'm thinking of heading out this Friday. I have never been there before and I am wondering if you can give me any advice on were to fish and what to use.

As with all our large local lakes the wind comes up fast!!!! The fishing is only moderate at best. You might want to try Kakawa lake instead.

You dont have to go far from the launch. Try trolling wedding band or willow leaf tippep with worm. Use lots of worms
