Semi-common practice on a few of the flows on the Olympic Peninsula, and I have seen fish caught that way.

Ain't "steelheading" IMHO though...

Cheers,
Nog

Bar fishing is an event on it's own, i can be done for any type of fish, success isn't so much on the type of fish it's just a matter of presentation and timing with conditions. If you like the lazy ways of bar fishing like I do at times then go for it. I don't believe it's nearly the most efficient way to fish, but still a way to.

I used to love bar fishing on the Fraser as a kid, set up shop with a small bbq and cooler and watch the rods in the holder. I haven't done that in at least 10 years. I'm hoping to do it again in late summer.
I've never tried bar fishing the smaller river systems before though...just gear fishing

Bar fishing or Plunking for steelhead(as it is called in the US).
Sitting in a chair in winter time and freezing my butt off, not for me unless i could get a fire going, Walking around and keeping warm sounds better too me.

It is best done when the water is high and fish are moving though the system pick a spot that they have to come through and good luck..

I have only heard of it done on the canal in the vedder..

I fished that hole Friday morning floating a jig.....with the same result as he had barfishing.
