My introduction to jigs for steelhead was on the Stamp using 1/8 oz jigs and a smallish float together with a long light spinning rod and a medium spinning reel loaded with a light braid line. This arrangement allowed decent casting of the light rig and the ability to mend the line so as to ensure a dead drift.
How are you doing it? Anybody using bait casting gear with light jigs?

Sure you can use bait casting or centerpin gear too..Now lets go fishing ;) :D

--Modern fishing lines allow use of baitcaster, center pin or side cast reels. I think! Just sent some light lo-stretch line to a guy to try on an Alvey sidecast, haven't heard the results yet.
--I'm not sure that the light line, small diameter line will work well on the sidecast. I'm sure it will cast a light lure or jig with float but may bind up when reeled in.
--would be interested to hear if anyone has used, with success, small diameter line on a sidecast reel.
