Title: Clothing in Pitt river
Post by: Happy Clam on January 10, 2010, 11:47:31 PM
Since I've booked a trip to the Pitt river on 17th Feb 10,
I would like to ask about the weather & necessary clothing.
Is it ok with a warm bottow + fleece pullover & a water proof
jacket. Or I need a down jacket? Cheers, Paul

It is pouring rain in the Chilliwack area, so the rainy season is upon us again. I would suggest to leave the down jacket at home. Once the down gets wet, it becomes useless and will be a pain to dry out. Good quality rain gear and dressing in layers would be the way to go.

What dennyman said. Good rain gear is a must, most of the well known brand wading jackets will do. How many layers you put on underneath your rain gear depends on you (where you come from). What locals may consider mild is most likely quite cold for someone from the tropics or sub-tropics. I like to have a shirt, a sweat shirt, a fleece jacket underneath my Goretex wading jacket.

Good luck on the Pitt River. :) It is a good choice, a rather remote destination which is well worth the visit for someone who is visiting Vancouver.

the upper pitt seems to have its own weather system. so make sure you have extra gear even if its not raining here.

Just wear whatever you would normally wear for wet and cold climates, good layers good gloves and a toque should be fine.....

Thanks! Danny. I'll be with my wife for the trip. It should be ok for
me cause during wading & body movement will keep me warm.
My wife is the photographer not much movement in the river.
That's why I wish her dress as warm as possible. Both we have
a Goretex jacket. It should be fine under raining.

Hi Rodney, first of all, thanks for introducing the STS!
Hong Kong is Subtropical weather. Today we got only 9 degree
with 85% humidity. Feeling like freezing.
I wish to have more photos and share with all of you soon.

Thanks for your reply. I'll bring a big water proof bag for extra cloths
in case the weather change dramatically.
