Title: Chehalis River, January 9th 2010
Post by: nickredway on January 09, 2010, 05:47:24 PM
Went to check out the Chehalis for the first time today. Walked up the trail into the canyon and fished four of the runs up there. The water looked perfect and found lots of fishy looking spots. Was quiet by the Vedder standard I'm used to and only bumped into a couple of other fishermen. One guy said he caught a couple of late Coho but nothing for me except feeding a couple of jigs to the rock gods. All in all a nice day in a beautiful place. Look forward to exploring the rest of the river in the next few months.

Couple of pictures from the other week. Any reports? Going to head up that way at the weekend.

I was up there on Saturday.  Visited the canyon area you've got pictured and the water was a little higher than that.  I also hiked quite a ways downstream.  Lots of fishy looking water, but didn't get a sniff all day.  Only a handful of people out and didn't hear of any luck from anyone else either.  I visited another system on the way home and managed to land a decent sized cutty though.  It was a very peaceful day.  :)

Thanks for the reply. Looks like it's going to be a beauty weekend for wetting a line this weekend! ;D

Anyone been out the last few days and got a report on water conditions they wouldn't mind sharing? Am going up with a friend who fly fishes; would I be better off heading up from the bridge and fishing the lower canyon with him or below and doing some bush wacking to find decent fly water for him to fish?
