for this years spring/coho run,what can I use to catch springs without the snagging/flossing that goes on??I dont reacll seeing anyone at peg leg last year catch one with out there long lines,I caught one small one spinning but I was going for pinks...

As JordsyU and Rodney have suggested, Bar fishing would avoid catching sockeye and the springs would actually bite.

Fish the Vedder in July. Short float roe, shrimp or wool. No need to go to Peg Leg.

I agree. Fishing with wool, shrimp and roe can be deadly for springs in the Vedder/Chilliwack River. Plus there are less crowds compared to Peg Leg, Scale, Sea Bird and other popular bars on the Fraser. IMO you have a better success rate when fishing the Vedder/Chilliwack.

That sometimes may be true, but if you take one day, maybe earlier in the season when the fishing isn't that great, to scout the river, you can find yourself a few spots that you can have to yourself.

IMO I think that the crowds on the Vedder/Chilliwack are less saver than some of the Fraser bars.

they are less for a reason, how many chrome red springs have you caught on the Vedder/Chilli? people hit these bars cause they produce

I have to agree with hue-nut the red spring fishing on the Vedder is not the best.

I do agree that Vedder and Chilliwack springs do turn, but you can still catch crome fish.
Fraser springs are extremely good quality fish. I do prefer Fraser springs over Vedder springs. But I just enjoy fishing alone on the Vedder and Chilliwack than solder to solder on the Fraser.

that sounds really good I use to fish the brownsville,and derby reach yaers ago,what bars on the fraser would be good for springs

fish the mouth of the vedder. bright chrome slabs down there. troll below the markers when the vedder is still closed and your golden. pulled out some hogs that were in grade A shape this past summer.

There is no where in the Lower Mainland more crowded than Pegleg. lol. By the time you can fish the Peg half of the reds are gone.
I've fished the Vedder for summer chinooks for over twenty years and have caught lots of chrome ones. The Vedder produces just as well as the Fraser if you know where to fish. Every chinook you catch is guaranteed to be a red one, and the best part for me is that I can use my float rod and don't have to bottom bounce for them like in the Fraser. Peace of mind is more important to me.

I am with you on the peace of mind thing, and I would much rather fish the vedder over the Fraser as bottom bouncing isn't really my thing, and bar fishing bores me I need something to do when fishing, and I agree that no where on the vedder gets as busy as peg leg I was just saying that some spots can get pretty brutal on the vedder. But with a little leg work it is easy to get away from the crowds.

That is exactly why I prefer the Vedder and Chill over the Fraser.
Plus I just like seeing my float go down. :D :P
