I am sorry to hear that. He's an icon in the fishing tackle business and will be missed.

My condolences to the Berry family for their loss. Ivan was a great man. He will be missed.
I remember when I first met Ivan. I was about 7 years old. I would go in to Berry's Bait & Tackle with my father to purchase boraxed chum roe for bar fishing the lower Fraser river for Coho salmon. Ivan looked like a giant to me, towering over both my father and I. He would ask "Hey little fellow, are you catching fish out there?" That was about 24 years ago.
In more recent times. Ivan would say "Wow, your all grown up now. I remember when you were just a little squirt about yeah high". As he gestured with his hand about waist high on him.
He's probably up there, pulling in those 70lb'ders with a big grin on his face.

That is sad news indeed. I remember when I first started to go to berrys bait it truly was just bait,( roe or dew worms.) Mostly worms at first the way I remember it. We would go to his garage on a sat. morn. he would usually be out fishing but the door would be open we would grab some worms and leave the money. And slowly but surely saw his shop grow. I'm sure he's fishing all the time now.
